How to tell If your bra fits you well... and what to do if it doesn’t!
Buying underwear can be a bit like buying shoes – sizes can vary according to brand and to style, but generally you can spot when a bra fits you well – and yes, in our experience it is true that around 80% of women are in the wrong size when we first see them! We’ve added a few tips here to help you to spot some of the most common fitting pitfalls as well as some pointers on how to correct them!
If you see this…try this
- The back strap rides up, meaning the bra is not level all around the body... try a smaller back size or two and if the cup already fits then go up one size in the cup for each size you go down in the back e.g. 36B to 34C or 32D
- The centre front between the cups stick s out and / or flesh peeps over the top or out of the side of the cup... try a bigger cup size or two and if the back is also too big, add an extra cup size for each back size you go down e.g. 36B to 34C to 32D
- The underwire feels soft and squidgy to the touch... try a bigger cup size to avoid the underwire sitting on breast tissue
- The shoulder straps fall off or leave marks... try a smaller back size but if the cup fits then go up one size in the cup for each size you go down in the back e.g. 36B to 34C to 32D
- The breasts droop downwards... try a smaller back size and a bigger cup size to lift the breasts upwards and project the bust forwards e.g. go from 34D to 32E

A Guide to Lingerie Styles & How to Choose the Most Flattering
Some styles are more suited to certain body shapes and many women prefer specific styles, so it’s a good idea to be able to spot the difference between styles. Here’s an explanation of the main garment styles available:
Full Cup bra
Gives full support and covers the whole of the breast - ideal for women with a fuller or bigger bust or for more mature skin
Balcony or Half Cup bra (sometimes known as balconette and demi bra)
A lower cut bra, with a broader underwire and often shaped to sit in a straight line across the bust - ideal to give an enhanced cleavage, especially for evening wear and great if your bust is fuller at the bottom than the top
Three quarter cup bra
Sits in between a half cup and a full cup , so good for every day wear as it gives good support but can be worn under lower necklines than a full cup
Quarter cup bra
A lower bustline than a half cup, a very sexy look, leaving the top 3/4s of the breast exposed
(Padded or non padded) Plunge bra
The bra with a very low 'plunging' neckline to boost and show off cleavage; often padded or with removable pads for extra shape.
(Padded or non padded) Push-up bra
The bra which lifts and pushes the breasts up together to create a fabulous cleavage and lifted shape, often comes with padding which may be removable and often combined with a plunge style for extra allure
Triangle bra
A bra with triangle shaped cups and usually without underwires for light support, ideal for younger girls or those who prefer to avoid a wire
Strapless bras
Strapless bras or bras with removable straps are ideal for wear with low cut or strapless outfits, and can often be worn as everyday bras with the straps attached
Non wired bra
Most of our bra styles are underwired for maximum support. Sometimes people prefer to avoid an underwire, particularly in the teenage years or during pregnancy or nursing when the breast shape and size can change frequently. Our maternity, nursing and sports bras are non-wired and we also offer some standard non wired bras
Camisole
A vest type top, popular as both daywear and nightwear
Chemise/Slip/Negligee
A looser version of the camisole which, extends to top of the thigh, popular as nightwear.
Babydoll
A short, sexy nightdress that stops at the top of the hip, and often floats away from the body.
Bustier
A form fitting top that usually fastens in the back and accentuates the bust. Often worn as outerwear or combined with a suspender belt for a sexy alternative to a basque
Basque
Similar to the bustier but often longer and with detachable suspenders, worn as underwear for a classic seductive look
Corset/Cincher
A steel boned bodice for the classic hourglass look, with lacing to the back. Available as a full overbreast style(corset) or an underbreast style which sits on the waist (cincher). Popular as outerwear as well as underwear.
Nightgown/nightdress
Full length night dress
Dressing gown/robe
Full or half length wrap around robe with tie
Pyjamas
2 piece pant and top set for sleepwear. Pants also known as lounge pants
Briefs
Traditional bikini style bottom, with coverage across the back and above the bikini line. Available in a full, medium, low or hipster style
Thong/String
Knickers with a very thin back- a thong has a little more fabric at the back than a string.
Tanga
A mixture of the thong and brief. Tends to provide slightly more coverage at the back.
Shorts/Boy short/Culotte
A modern style, usually figure hugging which provides full coverage, similar to a small pair of shorts
French knickers
A short style feminine floaty and comfortable pant. Looks great teamed with a cami or bra. Often worn as nightwear.
